Man killed in home invasion in northwest Indianapolis, police say

Police say a man was shot and killed early Saturday morning following a robbery in northwest Indianapolis.

Officers responded the 700 block of Edgemont Avenue shortly after midnight to a report of a person shot. According to the police report, the man was found unresponsive, laying in the yard of a home.

Fox59 reports the man was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds when officers found him.

Police later said the shooting was the result of a "home invasion robbery." Officers also found a gun at the scene that was taken during the robbery, but it's not known if that gun was used in the shooting. No information has been released about a suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
