Indianapolis police ask for help finding a car they say is connected to a double shooting

Update, Oct. 16:  The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a car they say is connected to an Oct. 7 shooting on the south side that left two men dead.

The car, which has been reported stolen, is a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that is "cherry red" and has two doors, police say. Its license plate number is 485RIV.

If you see the car, call 911 and don't approach its occupants, police say. Anyone with information about the vehicle or the double shooting to which police say the car is connected should call the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.

The Marion County coroner's office identified the shooting victims as Gary Miller II, 24, and Lamont Day Jr., 22.

Two men died after a shooting on the south side of Indianapolis, less than two miles west of Southport. 

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 7300 block of Orinoco Avenue around 4:43 p.m. Monday, where they discovered two men had been shot.

One of the victims died, IMPD officer Michael Hewitt said. The other was transported to a hospital in critical condition, IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley said. 

The second victim died at the hospital, Sibley said Tuesday morning. The Marion County coroner's office identified the victims Tuesday as Gary Miller II, 24, and Lamont Day Jr., 22. 

No information about a suspect was immediately available.
