Man suspected of killing mother in Speedway shot in Downtown Indianapolis, police say

A man wanted in the stabbing death of his mother in Speedway was shot in Downtown Indianapolis on Monday night, police said.

Vinson Edge, 39, was being sought in connection to the stabbing, which was reported around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 5400 block of White Horse Road.

When officers arrived at the home, they found Vickie Edge, 58, dead at the scene. She died of multiple sharp force injuries, according to the Marion County coroner's office.

Vinson Edge was not at the home when police arrived.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Genae Cook told IndyStar that Edge was shot in the leg near the intersection of East Maryland and South Pennsylvania streets around 6:30 p.m.

He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.

The person who shot Edge stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities, police said.

Speedway police were also at the scene Monday night, Cook said.
