Man found fatally shot in vehicle on east-side, Indianapolis police say

A man was found Monday shot to death in the driver's seat of a vehicle on the east side, Indianapolis police said.

Officers responded to the area of 3800 North Post Avenue on a report of a person shot around 2:30 p.m. They found the man sitting in a vehicle in front of a gas station, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police and an IndyStar journalist at the scene.

The man had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds, police said. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives canvassed the area for witnesses.

The coroner's office will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
