Domestic shootout leaves 1 man dead, 1 man in critical condition on west side

Indianapolis police say a shooting involving a woman's current and former boyfriends ended with one man killed, and the other hospitalized in critical condition.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday a home in the 4800 block of West Morris Street.

Police said the current boyfriend of a woman who lives at the home got into a dispute with the woman's ex-boyfriend. The fight escalated into both men shooting each other.

The woman's current boyfriend was taken to an area hospital after the shooting where he was pronounced dead.

The ex-boyfriend fled to a nearby gas station in the 1200 block of Lynhurst Drive where he told police what happened. The ex-boyfriend was hospitalized in critical condition.

The woman and an 8-year-old were in the home when the shooting happened. They were not wounded.

Bullets from the incident also struck the home of  neighbor. No one else was hurt in the shooting.
