Plan ahead for these Indianapolis highway closures and restrictions this weekend

Even though the temperatures are dropping, crews are still out on Indianapolis highways. 

That means crews are working full force to finish up work before the season wraps up. Contractors will be in at least five locations throughout Marion County repairing pavement, bridges, barrier walls and guardrails and clearing drains and fixing lights.

There are no full closures happening this weekend, but motorists will want to prepare for lane restrictions and ramp closures. Plan your routes ahead of time, and be sure to slow down near construction zones.

Here are all the details:

Lane Restrictions

Lane restrictions on Marion County for Oct. 17-21, 2019.
  • I-65 southbound: One only lane will be open from I-465 to Southport Road on the south side from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. 
  • I-65 northbound: One only lane will be open from Southport Road to I-465 on the south side from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. 
  • I-465 westbound: Only one lane will be open from White River to College Avenue on the northeast side from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. 
  • I-465 northbound: One only lane will be open from the I-70 interchange to 56th Street on the northeast side from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. 
  • I-69 northbound and southbound: Two lanes will be closed intermittently from 75th Street to Ind. 37 on the northeast side from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday. 
  • I-865 eastbound and westbound: One only lane will be open from I-465 to I-65 on the northwest side from 4 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Saturday. 
  • I-465 southbound: The right three lanes will be closed from the I-65 interchange to 56th Street on the northwest side from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.  
  • I-465 eastbound and westbound: Intermittent lane closures will occur for lane striping from 96th Street to U.S. 31 (Meridian Street) on the north side from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Monday. 
  • I-65 northbound and southbound: One lane will be open northbound and two lanes will be open southbound from Little Eagle Creek to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street (Exit 117) on the northwest side through October.

  • Southport Road to I-65 northbound and southbound from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.
  • Allisonville Road to I-465 westbound from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.
  • Keystone Avenue to and from I-465 westbound from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.
  • Pendleton Pike to and from I-465 northbound from 9 p.m. Friday to  6 a.m. Monday.
  • I-465 northbound to 56th Street on the northeast side from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.
  • I-74 westbound to I-465 northbound on the southeast side from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday.
  • Southeastern Avenue to I-465 northbound from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday.
  • I-465 northbound to I-74 eastbound on the southeast side from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday.
  • I-74 westbound and I-465 northbound to Shadeland Avenue from 7 a.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Tuesday. 
  • I-465 northbound to U.S. 40 (Washington Street) from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday.
  • I-465 westbound to I-865 westbound from 5 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday.
  • I-865 eastbound to I-465 eastbound from 6 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.

Outside Marion County

I-70 westbound: Only one lane will be open from three miles east of Mt. Comfort Road to Mt. Comfort Road (mile marker 99 to 96) from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Oct. 25.
