McDonald's kiosks are coming to the Indianapolis airport, and so is a sports-themed store

Indianapolis International Airport travelers will be able to get their Egg McMuffins and Big Macs for a long time.

The Indianapolis Airport Authority board voted on Friday to a seven-year term with fast food giant McDonald's, which has a location in the airport's Civic Plaza. The board also voted to approve a new store from Hudson Retail Group that will sell merchandise related to Indiana sports teams.

Marsha Stone, senior director of commercial enterprise, said at the board meeting that the airport has had a long standing relationship with mother-and-daughter McDonald's franchisee owners Elizabeth and Laurie Henry. The contract also will include an option to extend the lease an additional three years.

Travelers make their way through Indianapolis International Airport in 2015.

Stone said the restaurant will undergo a renovation that includes adding self-order kiosks and upgrades to the menu and facility. She said the location offers a "quick serve product" and is the "right price point" for airport travelers.

The airport has a 10-year existing contract with Hudson Retail Group, and the specialty retail concept will be a new addition. The shop will sell Indiana sports-themed apparel and gifts.

It was not immediately clear when the changes to McDonald's will be made or when the new store will be built.
