More than 100 become US citizens at Fargo naturalization ceremony

A naturalization ceremony held at the Sanctuary Events Center Tuesday, April 23, in Fargo included 139 people from 40 different countries.

FARGO — Families from around the globe gathered at the Sanctuary Events Center on Tuesday, April 23, for the first naturalization ceremony this year in Fargo.

The ceremony included 139 people from 40 different countries, with Somalia having the largest representation.

Among the new Americans was Olya Kleinjan. She immigrated from Russia 13 years ago to attend college at Dickinson State University, where she met her future husband. He and their two 5-year-old children attended the ceremony.

"My daughter is very excited that mommy is becoming an American, because the rest of the family is . . . it's very emotional today for sure," Kleinjan.
