FARGO — As the region is hit with yet another blizzard, the Fargo Fire Department is reminding the public to keep fire hydrants clear of snow.
It can be hard for firefighters reach hydrants if they're buried in a snow bank, and it can slow down efforts to put out fires. It only takes a few minutes to clear them, and it can make a big difference for emergency responders, said Fargo Fire Department Battalion Chief Jason Ness.
"Take some time to clear a path out for us. If it's critical and we need to get at that fire hydrant, it'll definitely save us time," Ness said.
The city doesn't issue fines for failing to clear snow from fire hydrants, but Fargo fire officials said it's a courteous thing to do.
