West Fargo Police hand off bike vs. vehicle investigation

WEST FARGO — L.E. Berger Elementary School is providing counseling to students, parents and staff after a first grade boy was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike through a crosswalk near the school Wendesday, June 12, according to city of West Fargo spokeswoman Melissa Richard.

The crash investigation continues, with the North Dakota Highway Patrol assisting the West Fargo Police Department, Richard said.

The boy was hit just after noon while in the crosswalk at the intersection of Fourth Avenue East and Seventh Street. It's directly west of the West Fargo Police Department. It's the second time in recent years that a child was struck by a car near L.E. Berger school.

The boy has not been identified and his condition has not been released by police. School officials said Wednesday that he was taken away by an ambulance.
