FARGO — A 27-year-old man was arrested at a north Fargo park Wednesday night, Aug. 21, after police said he led them on a short chase where he at one point attempted to evade officers by jumping in the Red River, crossing from Minnesota into North Dakota.

Around 8 p.m., Minnesota law enforcement officials attempted to stop Jacob Jesse Bredell for a traffic violation in Moorhead when Bredell fled, according to the Fargo Police Department.

A witness who submitted a video of the arrest said the driver at one point led police down a bike path while trying to get away.

Bredell then ditched his vehicle on the Minnesota side of the Red River and jumped in, according to police, who said he ended up on the North Dakota side of the river in Fargo's Trefoil park where he was taken into custody by Fargo police and Clay County deputies.

The Fargo Police Department said neither Bredell nor any officers were harmed in the incident.
