Witness appeal after Inverness city centre police van crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was injured when a police van and a power company van collided in Inverness this morning.

The crash at 8.08am caused a short road closure at the Ness Bridge junction between Bridge Street and Bank Street.

The driver of the police van suffered a minor back injury but has since been released from hospital, while the SSE driver of the Toyota Hilux escaped unharmed.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The male driver of the police vehicle was taken to Raigmore Hospital to be checked over, but has now been released.

“The male driver of the Toyota was uninjured. The road at the scene was closed for a short time.”

Sergeant Alasdair Mackay said: "Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to call us on the 101 number, and should quote the reference number 0528 of May 18.

“Anyone who may have captured this crash on their dash-can system is also asked to call us on the 101 number.”
