Scottish Water will be carrying out an emergency sewer repair on the corner of Strothers Lane and Academy Street in Inverness tomorrow evening.

To allow the work to take place safely, Strothers Lane will be closed between the bus station and Academy Street from 7pm.

A signposted diversion will be in place via Academy Street, the A82 and Railway Terrace.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: "Arrangements will be in place to maintain safe pedestrian access and the road will be re-opened as soon as possible following temporary reinstatement of the excavation.

"Permanent reinstatement will be scheduled for a later date in consultation with Highland Council.

"We would like to thank customers and road users for their patience and understanding while this essential repair work is completed.

"The work has been scheduled for the evening to keep disruption for businesses and the bus station to a minimum, but we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
