Michael McDiarmid has been warned he could be jailed after admitting the offence.

The 33-year-old from Keppoch Road, Inverness stole more than £2400 from Harry Gow in Beauly and elsewhere while he was an employee of the firm.

Sentence was deferred for reports after he pleaded guilty at Inverness Sheriff Court this week.

The offence dates back to July 2016.

Sheriff Gary Aitken told McDiarmid: "This is a significant sum of money and a grave breach of trust, so a custodial sentence must be a consideration."

A second charge against McDiarmid – of resetting two police radios – was dropped.

He is due to be sentenced on June 11.
