A SON of an Inverness street trader who disappeared in the US while facing 24 charges, including rape, has reportedly said his father has crossed the border into Mexico.

Last month, relatives of Kim Gordon (55), also known as Kim or Kem Avis, were apparently desperate to find him “dead or alive”.

In May, his family were surprised to learn he had vanished during a holiday to California as they were unaware he had left the country, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

Now, the Sunday Mail is reporting that his son Reuben said: “The last information any of us heard was that he had made his way into Mexico. Besides that, none of us know what is happening.

“This is all that I shall say in regards to this. Going into explicit detail would most likely only harm my dad’s defence.”

Gordon was reported missing by 17-year-old Reuben after he failed to return from a swim in February.

At the time of his disappearance, Gordon was with Reuben, who was taken into protective custody after alerting Monterey County Police but was later released.

The location where Gordon went missing is on a notoriously dangerous stretch of coastline.

An arrest warrant was issued after he failed to appear to face trial at the High Court in Edinburgh in March.
