SIX new holiday homes could be built in Inverness after plans for the development were submitted to Highland Council.

The application for the apartments, at Druid View in Old Edinburgh Road South, has been proposed by developer Druid Developments.

Currently the land in the grounds of an existing B&B is used as an extended garden and the plans also include six parking spaces.

During the consultation period transport planners responded with no comments to make and Scottish Water raised no objections.

However Dianne Chisholm, a resident nearby, objected and claimed the site was being overdeveloped.

“This area is classed as low density housing and this is clearly not being taken into account,” she said.

Under a previous application, which was approved in February, permission was given for a new garage with a one-bedroom apartment above and Mrs Chisholm pointed out the latest application could potentially bring the total accommodation at the site to nine holiday apartments and three letting rooms.

She added: “Old Edinburgh Road South is a single track road and is not suitable for the volume of traffic this will create.

“We also have concerns that during the quiet winter season the apartments will be let out to workmen and work vans will be parked there, as this was the case for several weeks last winter. In view of these matters I strongly object that planning is granted for these holiday apartments.”
