Neill gets first senior call-up for Scotland

Adrian Neill has reached a new milestone in his rise through domestic cricket as the former Nairn Academy pupil has been called up for the senior Scotland squad.

Now plying his trade in Gloucestershire, Neill broke into senior cricket with Nairn County, also playing in the North of Scotland league with Northern Counties.

He will be heading out to Oman for Scotland’s quadrangular series with the host nation, Ireland and the Netherlands as part of a 14- man squad.

It is quite the achievement considering nine of the squad also played a part in Scotland’s famous six-run victory over England last June.

That being said, the 6ft 9in seam bowler is taking the call up in his stride.

“It is quite impressive what they achieved last year, but I don’t feel any pressure coming into the team,” Neill said.
