How to see the Queen in Bracknell plus where to park and take photos

Details of Queen's visit to Bracknell have been revealed as she heads to the town this week.

The Queen will be in Bracknell, Berkshire to visit The Lexicon on the morning of Friday, October 19.

She has been invited by councillors to see the new look town centre and meet those instrumental in its completion.

She will also meet some of the town’s key retailers, the scheme’s architects and main artist.

On the day, she will be welcomed by James Puxley, the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, before meeting Councillor Paul Bettison OBE, the leader of Bracknell council and chief executive, Timothy Wheadon.

She will unveil a commemorative plaque to mark her visit to the regenerated town centre.

The shopping centre has enticed 16 million visitors in its first year.

The event is being managed by Bracknell Forest Council, which has issued information for those who want to welcome the Queen to the town.

Will I be able to see the Queen in Bracknell?

Unfortunately, the layout of The Lexicon means the opportunity to see the Queen will be limited.

However, people who want to be part of the atmosphere on the day are invited to gather in the High Street by Union Square, the High Street near McDonalds and Braccan Walk.

People with disabilities are asked to make their way towards Fenwick, where a dedicated viewing area will be in place.

Will The Lexicon be closed during the Queen's visit?

Stretches of The Lexicon will be closed until around midday, so shoppers are asked to plan beforehand to avoid disappointment.

After that, all retailers and restaurants should be open to the public.

Can I take photos of the Queen's visit to Bracknell?

Crowds are free to take photos on their mobile phones and pocket cameras but due to lack of space the council has requested large-scale photography equipment is not used.

Where can I park my car?

All car parks will be open and operating as normal.

However, there will be limited parking at The Avenue, so those driving into the town centre are advised to use High Street or Braccan Walk car parks instead.

Albert Road and Wick Hill surface car parks and Princess Square multi-story will also be running as normal.

There will also be parking in Weather Way for cars and small buses.

The council has warned that the car parks will be busier than normal because of the momentous visit.

Will Bracknell Market be open?

Yes. After the Queen's visit, members of the public can buy their groceries, fresh produce and more at Bracknell Market.

What about people who live in flats in thew town centre?

All those who live in Ferriby Court, the Ringside and Mi Flats have been written to regarding arrangements for the day.
