Children went head to head in a competition to name four of the suites at a local care home.

The pupils from Dee Banks Primary School in Great Boughton were given the chance to make their mark at the residential home in Chester, Cheshire.

Together the group put their heads together to come up with a list of names that have cultural or historical significance to them and the local area.

Held by Care UK, the competition allowed local children to interact with their community in a different way, meeting and visiting the residents of Deewater Grange Care Home in Huntington, Chester.

When the care home opens in winter 2019, the suites will be known as: the 'Kingfisher Suite,' the 'Swan Suite,' the 'Mallard Suite,' and the 'Cygnet Suite.'

The names were inspired by the theme of nature, as suggested by the pupils.

We were thrilled when Care UK asked to work with us on this exciting new venture here in Chester. The children had a great time researching the local area to help them come up with four suite names. - Erica Flynn, teacher at Dee Banks Primary School

Care UK presented the school with £250 towards new play equipment to say thank you for the pupils' hard work.
