Taylor Swift has been hilariously mocked by Londoners for her rose-tinted view of the city.

The You Belong With Me hitmaker, who is dating British actor Joe Alwyn, sings about London on her new album Lover.

The song, London Boy, provides an insight into their rather under-the-radar relationship and sees the American star sing about enjoying nights out in the West End and strolling through Camden market.

She also mentions meeting her boyfriend's friends in a Highgate pub, watching rugby with his school pals, and sings: "They say home is where the heart is. But that's not where mine lives."

But her romanticised view of London didn't go down too well with people who actually live there.

One said on Twitter : "Taylor Swift's London Boy is super-nice, but the idea of doing Shoreditch in the afternoon, Brixton in the evening and then back to Highgate is giving me major London Underground anxiety."

While one commented: "Any guy who enjoys walking through Camden market and introduces you to his mates at a pub in Highgate where they're watching the rugby is a monster!"

And another said: "If Taylor Swift ’s London song wanted to be truly authentic, she’d moan about having to get from Brixton to Shoreditch and then say 'sorry, City Mapper says it’s going to take 79 minutes'"

One person who'd listened to the song wrote: "No one from London goes to Camden market. We invented it purely to distract Spanish exchange students"

And another posted: "London Boy is a bop but the bit about her enjoying watching rugby with his school friends is ridiculous, no woman present when rugby boys are together has ever had a good time."

Adding more about her favourite things to do in London, Taylor also sings: "So please show me Hackney. Doesn't have to be Louis V up on Bond Street.

The song is an incite into her latest romance

"Stick with me, I'm your queen. Like a Tennessee Stella McCartney on the Heath."
