In next week's EastEnders, Whitney Dean makes a surprising move on Gray Atkins and attempts to kiss him despite knowing he is a married man.

Gray is married to Chantelle Atkins, though he is abusive towards her and she recently displayed nasty looking bruises from his attack.

But he is currently representing Whitney during her trial over the death of Leo King, who she killed because he was stalking her.

Whitney is haunted by the night Leo was killed, and ends up on the street, totally disoriented.

Gray finds her and takes her back to his place to calm her down and help to go over the case, and they discuss the fact that her previous relationships could be used against her in court.

Whitney is suffering from memory loss and only has some flashbacks of the night it happened, and Gray advises her to use her flashbacks to try to piece it all together, because it could help her defence.

Whitney becomes highly distressed, but is able to give a detailed account before breaking down.

EastEnders fans face a long wait for new episodes this Summer – as the show could be off air until September.

As previously reported, the current run of episodes filmed before lockdown are scheduled to run out on June 16.

And whilst the cast and crew will return to Albert Square to work on new scenes at the end of the month, bosses are planning to build up a “block” of episodes before they put EastEnders back into the BBC1 schedule.

Insiders say that will mean a period of at least 6-8 weeks off air, which suggests no new episodes until the end of August at the earliest.
