Madison Co. law enforcement officials conducting search of Forked Deer River for body

Madison County law enforcement officials are on scene at Forked Deer River actively searching for a body.

Officials from the Madison County Fire Department, Madison County Sheriff's Office and Jackson Police Department have been searching the Forked Deer River since 9:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a report that someone was seen jumping off a bridge where the river intersects with Riverside Drive.

"We are conducting a search of the area right now, but we have not located anything yet," Madison County Fire Chief Eric Turner said. "We are going to do a thorough search of the area until we feel comfortable that no one is there."

Law enforcement has brought in their SWIFT water rescue team and boats to assist in the search.
