A 4-year-old girl hospitalized Aug. 19 with multiple skull fractures from "forceful blows to her head" has resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old Westside woman, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrest warrant.

Jacqui Lyne Carter was charged last week with aggravated child abuse and child neglect and is being held on $300,000 bail, according to Duval County jail records.

Medical reports revealed "old and new skull fractures" plus bleeding on the brain, according to arrest documents. "Her complex skull fracture is indicative of a blow to her head with force," the warrant said. "The second fracture on the left side of the head with no overlying swelling suggests there were at least two separate forceful blows to her head. Her epidural bleed is a direct result of blunt force head trauma."

Officers were called after the child was taken to the Park West Emergency Room. Carter, who said she is her primary caretaker, told investigators the girl was excited and moving in her bouncy chair when she hit her head, the warrant said. She said the child cried and had a red mark and bump on her head. The woman's boyfriend came home from work, saw the bump and was told she had fallen out of her bouncer. He insisted they take the child to a hospital.
