The person who died after an apparent drive-by shooting late Sunday in the 8500 block of Julia Marie Circle has been identified as Jai'Keshia Nevika McLeod, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

But police have not added any more information on why the 24-year-old woman and an as-yet unidentified second person were in a vehicle on the Westside street when someone in a second vehicle shot at them.

Officers were sent to the home just west of Fouraker Road about 10 p.m. on reports of shots fired, finding three homes on the street had been hit by bullets, the Sheriff's Office said. No victims were found, but then officers learned a vehicle had driven up to Park West ER four miles away on 103rd Street with two gunshot victims.

McLeod was pronounced dead at the emergency room, while the other victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators said it appears the two victims were targeted by someone who drove up next to their vehicle on Julia Marie Circle, then fired at them.

The Sheriff's Office had no description of that vehicle or the shooter and ask anyone with information to call (904) 630-0500 or First Coast Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-8477 (TIPS).
