Detectives are investigating the Thursday-afternoon discovery of a dead person in a home in the Bunker Hill community on the Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Someone called police to report an injured person about 1:30 p.m. at the home in the community south of the Trout and Ribault rivers, the Sheriff’s Office said. They found the individual dead with injuries consistent with foul play.

The Sheriff's Office did not release the street where the body was found, the type of injuries suffered or whether it was male or female. WJXT TV-4 reported the crime scene was on Bunker Hill Boulevard.

The Sheriff's Office no longer provides victim names and private addresses where homicides occur due to its interpretation of a new state law.
