A 63-year-old Jacksonville woman was killed Thursday morning when she hit the back of a loaded Duval County school bus as it crossed Atlantic Boulevard at Withrow Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brenda Snodgrass, who was not wearing a seat belt, was declared dead after transport to Memorial Hospital, the Highway Patrol said. None of the seven students on the bus, en route to Sabal Palm and Waterleaf elementary schools at the time of the crash, was injured, according to Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

The school bus was heading east on Atlantic Boulevard about 8:15 a.m. when the crash occurred. As the bus crossed Withrow Drive, Snodgrass failed to stop for a red light at Atlantic Boulevard, the Highway Patrol said. Her Toyota Camry hit the back of the bus in the intersection, sliding under its left rear, the crash report said.

The Toyota slid to a stop in a shopping plaza while the bus crossed the center median and hit two other vehicles that had stopped for the red light. The bus driver and those in the other vehicles were not injured, the Highway Patrol said.
