A Jacksonville woman survived a strange, horrific attack this week when a carjacker smashed her window, stabbed her and later launched himself onto her windshield slicing open his throat on the shattered glass, according to the suspect's arrest report.

"I'm alive," the 23-year-old victim said Friday, but didn't want to talk much more about what happened.

The chain of events began Monday afternoon when the woman went to an OMG Food Mart on Jammes Road for some ice cream. When she got back in her car, she noticed the suspect — someone she said she's never seen before — walking briskly toward her from the Welcome Food Store across the street. She told police she had an uneasy feeling so rolled up her window and attempted to start her car that usually takes a couple of tries, according to the arrest report.

Armed with a knife, the man broke her driver’s-side window and attempted to stab her several times, the report said. She was struck twice, once each on her left hand and left leg. She jumped to the passenger seat before he reached in and unlocked the door and got in.

She was able to get out and get help from a stranger. For whatever reason, the suspect — identified in the report as 34-year-old Andrew Levicki of West Solandra Circle — then got out of the car and went into the store. So the woman got back into her car and drove to a friend’s apartment nearby.

The suspect was soon seen leaving the store and walking down Wilson Boulevard. A 25-year-old man said he then tried to rob him of his skateboard and chased him into a Welcome Food Store across from the OMG. The suspect ended up leaving again and started walking back down Wilson, according to the report.

While waiting for police to arrive, the carjacking victim drove back to the scene with her friend in that woman's car. She told police she wanted to keep an eye out for the suspect until they arrived, according to the report. They saw him confronting several people at the Welcome Food Store and trying to get into vehicles. He then attempted to take three older men's vehicle at Wilson and Parvin Drive.

The woman, who was driving her friend’s car, stopped at the intersection to warn the men he was armed, she told police in the report. The suspect then turned toward her yelling, “I did not try to kill you.” She said she tried to flee, but the suspect jumped toward the hood of the car landing on the windshield. He suffered a major laceration to the neck from the smashed windshield, the report said.

Police said Levicki was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. He was absentee-booked on charges of carjacking with a deadly weapon and robbery/sudden snatching.

The victim told the Times-Union she thought he may have been on drugs. Duval County court records show mostly a history of criminal traffic violations but no other violent crimes.
