A Jacksonville man faces a possible maximum life sentence after being found guilty of shooting a bail bond agent about two years ago.

Demeatrice Deangelo McClendon, 31, was found guilty by a Duval County jury of two counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the State Attorney's Office.

McClendon has nine aliases, including Demeatriv Deangelo McClendon. Florida Department of Corrections records show McClendon has prior convictions in Duval County for aggravated stalking/violating a court order and being a felon or delinquent with a gun, concealed weapon/ammunition.

Judge Tatiana Salvador will hold a sentencing hearing the week of July 8 for McClendon, who faces up to life in prison, the State Attorney's Office said.

The Dec. 16, 2017, shooting happened when two bail bond agents attempted to apprehend McClendon after he failed to appear in court while out on bail. The agents made contact with a witness who knew McClendon and set up a meeting with him at a Salisbury Road hotel.

McClendon was armed with a handgun and fired a round, hitting one agent in the abdomen when they entered the motel room to take him into custody. The bullet was stopped by a bullet-resistant vest. McClendon then fled and was pursued by the other agent. McClendon eventually was located by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office patrol and a K-9 unit, according to the State Attorney's Office.
