Jacksonville man shot multiple times Friday night
Jacksonville police say a 19-year-old man was shot multiple times Friday night, apparently while sitting inside his car in a Northwest neighborhood.
The victim, who sustained several gunshot wounds to the torso, managed to get to the 2200 block of West 33rd Street in search of help. His injuries didn't appear life-threatening as he was taken to the hospital, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Police said the shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. near Benedict Road and Paris Avenue, roughly a block away from Avenue B.
Neighborhood residents said they didn't see or hear anything suspicious but were not surprised by the shooting.
The victim was shot by an unknown man who walked up to the car and opened fire, according to the Sheriff's Office.
