Harvest, Health & Recreation Inc. cannabis company has added a new shop in Jacksonville.

The company this month opened a medical marijuana dispensary at 10095 Beach Blvd. The First Coast dispensary joins two others that are already operational in Florida in the Tallahassee area and in Orlando, the company said.

Harvest also opened up a dispensary in North Port on the Gulf Coast and another new facility in Longwood. The company has licenses to operate 35 such dispensaries in Florida and a total of 210 facilities in 17 states.

“Florida is the third-largest state in the country in terms of population and a crucial state for Harvest as we look to extend our depth across the East Coast, as we have done in the West,” said Harvest Executive Chairman Jason Vedadi. “The explosive growth in Florida’s medical marijuana program over such a short time is incredibly exciting to us, and we’re committed to giving patients and caregivers access to the highest quality products and experience in the cannabis industry.”

St. Augustine hospice care opens campus

Community Hospice & Palliative Care opened a new campus in St. Augustine Thursday.

The facility at 1355 Dixie Highway in St. Augustine is named the Stephen R. Chapman Family Community Campus.

The campus includes a conference and educational center with about 2,122 square feet of meeting space. It has corporate and clinical offices for St. Augustine-based care teams and features private offices and counseling rooms for grief and bereavement assistance. It also has a retail store for donations of items to be sold for fundraising.

“Community Hospice began serving this community in 1985, and throughout the years since, we have remained committed to growing to meet our expanding community’s needs,” said Susan Ponder-Stansel, president & CEO, Community Hospice and Palliative Care. “The opening of the Stephen R. Chapman Family Community Campus will allow us to expand our educational and community service activities in ways that would be impossible without this wonderful new facility.”

Murray Hill brewer gets distributor

Jacksonville’s Fishweir Brewing Co. has signed an agreement with a distribution company to provide wider retail opportunities for the beer business across the First Coast.

Champion Brands, which has already agreed to distribute several beers for Jacksonville brewers, has agreed to the Firshweir accord, the company said. The agreement deepens the reach of Fishweir Brewing, located at 1183 Edgewood Avenue S., into Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with the team at Fishweir Brewing,” said Champion Brands General Manager Jacob Benton. “They’re already a staple of the Murray Hill community, and we have big expectations for their growth into Northeast Florida.”

Health network merges with St. Augustine firm

Ponce Therapy Care Center in St. Augustine has merged with another Florida health care network.

Tampa-based Greystone Health Network announced the acquisition of Ponce Therapy this month. Ponce Therapy is a nursing facility on 8 acres within a mile of Flagler Hospital.

Ponce Therapy has 24 private rooms and 48 semi-private rooms at the health care facility. The acquisition allows more penetration into the North Florida market for Greystone.

“I have had the privilege of meeting the warm and caring staff at The Ponce, who take pride in the high caliber of care they provide every day,” said Stephanie Handelson, CEO of Greystone Healthcare Management Corp. “During my visits, it was clearly evident to me that this community exemplifies Greystone’s values of care, respect and sustaining a positive home environment where people matter.”

The Ponce Therapy Care Center is at 1999 Moultrie Road. The acquisition of the facility adds to the 28 nursing and assisted-living facilities already managed by Greystone in Florida.
