The body of a teen or young man was found Tuesday night in a pond in a Mandarin apartment complex, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers and firefighters were called to the Coopers Hawks apartment complex at 10275 Old St Augustine Road about 7:30 p.m. after a resident made a 911 call to report the body, the Sheriff's Office said.

"They found an unidentified black male between 15 to 20 inside of the pond, face down and unresponsive," Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said.

Police did not observe any evidence of foul play in the death and do not know how long he had been in the pond, Rudlaff said. Missing-person reports are being checked to see if the victim is among them, and the Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.

Anyone with information on the death can call the Sheriff's Office at (904) 630-0500 or First Coast Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-8477 (TIPS).
