Jacksonville police searching for suspect in fatal shooting Saturday

Victim shot in Northwest neighborhood where teenager was slain last year

Jacksonville police are investigating the shooting death Saturday of a man in the same Northwest neighborhood where a teenager was killed last year.

The current victim was shot about 12:09 p.m. in the 8300 block of Gullege Drive off Sibbald Road. He died about two hours later at UF Health Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police withheld the victim's name and age.

The Sheriff's Office said the suspect "is known to the family" but didn't release a description or any information about the shooter. No arrests were reported.

Tavarius Jaquan Jenkins, 18, died Sept. 8 last year after police found him with a gunshot wound inside a back room of his home in the 8300 block of Gullege Drive.

Police haven't released any information whether to two shooting deaths might be related.
