A pedestrian was struck by a train at Roosevelt Boulevard and Post Street in the Murray Hill neighborhood but survived, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

It happened shortly after 3:30 p.m., but it was unclear why the woman was on or close enough to the tracks to be hit. The Sheriff’s Office described her as being 40 to 50 years old. She was initially thought to be in critical condition but was stabilized at the hospital and upgraded.

The Sheriff’s Office has identified her but is not releasing her name until family can be notified.

The CSX freight train only had the conductor and an engineer on board.
