1 dead in Jacksonville shooting

One man is dead following an early Friday shooting in the city’s Mixon Town community, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Officers and firefighters were called just after midnight to the 400 block of Broward Street in reference to a person shot, the Sheriff’s Office said. They found a man on the street suffering from at least one gunshot wound, but he died after transport to the hospital.

Police believe the incident started with an argument before shots were fired, according to news partner First Coast News. One witnesses was cooperating with detectives, and the shooter may have fled in a light-colored sedan from the scene just north of Edison Avenue. No other suspect information was available.
