A violent night left one man dead on the city’s Southside and at least three other people injured from gunfire in separate incidents in other parts of town, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

The death was called out about 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Parental Home Road, police said. A 51-year-old man was found with several injuries and not breathing. Taken to a hospital, he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators said foul play is suspected since the man had several injuries. They would not say what type he had other than they don’t suspect they were from a firearm. Police also said they believe the incident occurred right off Parental Home Road, near Beach Boulevard. Some people were at the scene when officers arrived and were being interviewed.

Earlier a rash of shootings began about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when officers were dispatched to the 8900 block of Madison Avenue in Northwest Jacksonville. Officers arrived after a teenage girl had been taken to a hospital by family with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said. Investigators learned that six or seven gunshots were fired and that a man wearing a light colored shirt and jeans had been seen running from the scene.

The next shooting was reported about 9:45 p.m. in the 3100 block of Justina Road in Arlington. Two men told investigators they were walking north on the street when they heard multiple gunshots and ran away. One of the men had been grazed by a bullet, police said. Two parked vehicles were also struck by bullets. There was no suspect information available.

Officers were called to the next shooting about 11:25 p.m. in the 5900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. They found a man in his late teens with a gunshot wound, but not life threatening, according to police. Investigators believe the suspect was in a dark, later-model Chevrolet Malibu or Impala with tinted windows.

The final shooting was reported about 1:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of Liston Road off Moncrief Road, police said. No other information was available on that incident yet.
