Amid a second round of “Black Lives Matter” protests Sunday, two black men suffered gunshot wounds within about a half hour in unrelated shootings involving black gunmen, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The first happened about 2:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of McQuade Street near West Beaver Street. Police said the victim was attacked by two men wearing camouflage. They threw him to the ground and shot him in an ear in the middle of the road. No other descriptions were provided but they appeared to be on foot.

Then about 3 p.m. in another part of town in the 9300 block of Gilchrist Court off Sibbald Road, a man in his mid-40s was shot once in the mid-section, police said. They are looking for a dark-blue Malibu with driver-side damage.

No other descriptions or circumstances were offered, but police said neither shooting was life-threatening.
