Gujarat to get 3 new Medical Colleges: There is good news for medical aspirants from Gujarat, as the state is all set to get three new medical colleges soon. According to media reports, the news regarding setting of 3 new medical colleges in Gujarat was confirmed by Gujarat Deputy CM Nitin Patel recently. He also said that the three new medical colleges will be setup in the state under the Central Government’s scheme to boost medical education and increase the number of MBBS seats available in the country.

Media reports have also confirmed that Deputy CM Nitin Patel also confirmed the locations where the new medical colleges will be setup in the state. As per the report, the new medical colleges sanctioned under the Centre’s scheme will come up in Narmada, Porbandar and Navsari districts. Recently, central government had announced a scheme of setting up 75 new medical colleges across the country to boost medical education and increase the number of MBBS seats available in the country.
975 Crores set aside for new Medical Colleges
He also added that a total budget of of Rs 975 crores have been earmarked for the setting up new medical colleges in the state. As per the information shared by the minister, of the total budget, 60% of the cost will be borne by the Central Government while the rest 40% will have to be contributed by the state government.
Detailed Proposal to be submitted soon
Gujarat Deputy CM Nitin Patel also added that the state government is working on a detailed proposal for the setting up of new medical colleges. Once ready, the proposal will be submitted to the central government for their inputs. Providing further information about the proposal, he added that each new hospital will have 1000 MBBS seats and existing hospitals in these districts would be attached to them after upgrading them as per Medical Council of India norms.
