Haryana has declared a gazetted holiday for the schools and colleges across the state on the occasion of Janmashtami. As per the notice, all the schools and colleges in the state along with the government offices will be closed on August 23, 2019. Janmashtami will be celebrated in the different parts of the country on August 23, 2019 (today) and August 24, 2019, (Tomorrow). However, it must be noted that a holiday for Janmashtami has been declared tomorrow for most of the states across the country.
Although the government schools and colleges across the state of Haryana remain closed, some of the private schools across many districts are not closed. Private schools in Gurgaon and Faridabad have also been given a holiday while there are a few schools which are still working.
It has been advised that the parents of the students studying in the different private schools in Haryana must contact the respective school authorities with regard to the holiday.
In the case of the banks functioning in the state, while most of the nationalized banks will remain closed, the private banks are reported to be functioning. Confirmation regarding the banks which will be open is awaited. However, August 24, 2019, is confirmed as a bank holiday for all as it is the fourth Saturday of the month.
The Haryana department of school education has earlier taken the initiative for 180 schools in the state to go bag free introducing locker systems for books. The Haryana Department of School Education had released a list of 180 schools which will be providing a locker facility for the students of primary classes to keep their books making it a bag free initiative.
