With the ongoing heavy rainfall received in Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, the officials have said that the schools will remain closed on Saturday. The Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate of Kangra, Rakesh Kumar Prajapati issued a direction on Saturday morning due to the rainfall received in most parts of the district since Friday evening.
Prajapati said that keeping in mind the rains and extreme climatic conditions across the district holiday have been declared for the schools and other educational institutions for Saturday.
The meteorological department issued an orange alert due to the heavy rains received across the state and a red alert for the extremely heavy rain received in several districts which include Kangra on Saturday and Sunday.
Several states across the country which include Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh have been receiving heavy rainfall from the past few weeks causing landslides and flash floods across several districts in the states. Schools have been issued orders to remain closed for a few days due to the extremely heavy rains received. The holidays have been declared in order to avoid disasters and keeping in mind the safety of the students.
