Montpelier club hears reading

JSSP Club News

The Montpelier Older Kids Club met on Oct. 1 for the noon meal at the Legacy Center with nine members in attendance.

Elaine Heinrich, president, opened the meeting with members saying the Pledge of Allegiance. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. Sharon Hattlewick, treasurer, will purchase more meal tickets for the door prizes, with a motion made by Sonja Berg, seconded by Mary Lee O’meara. For new business, Lorraine Gall will serve lunch at the next meeting in honor of her 86th birthday, which will be on Oct. 27. A reading titled "ABC’s of Aging" was read by Dottie Murchie and enjoyed by the members. The door prize, a meal ticket, was won by Janet VanBruggen.

Bingo was called by Murchie. The small picture frame was won by Gall, the large picture frame and blackout were won by VanBruggen. Whist was played with Marlys Boughton winning high and taking the deuce, and Murchie winning low. In pinochle, high went to Heinrich and low to Patti DeBuck.

Lunch was served by Heinrich for her 93rd birthday which will be on Oct. 3. The members sang "Happy Birthday" to her, and extended best wishes to her.

The next meeting will be at noon Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Legacy Center. Guests from Jamestown and surrouding areas are always welcome.
