Three companies submitted bids to the city Wednesday for repair and improvements to the Jacksonville Beach Pier.
The 15-year-old pier at 503 N. First St. was damaged by Hurricane Matthew in 2016. About half remains open. The pier is owned by the city of Jacksonville.
The project will remove damaged sections of the pier and rebuild it with an upward slope to better withstand wave damage.
Here are the companies and bid amounts:
• Miami-based Continental Heavy Civil Corp., with an office in Jacksonville, is a civil and marine contractor specializing in marine construction, dredging, bridge and site construction, $14,452,250.
• Jacksonville-based Superior Construction Co. Southeast LLC, a marine, transportation, energy, industrial, petrochemical, and water and wastewater contractor, $13,180,850.
• Jacksonville-based Hal Jones Contractor, Inc., a part of Vecellio & Grogan Inc., a marine, bridge, waterfront and site contractor, $9,880,500.
Bids will be evaluated and contractor selection will occur within the next 30 days.
The names of the bidders and the amounts were read at the city Procurement Division’s weekly bid opening meeting at the Ed Ball Building.
