West Lafayette dominant in victory at Frankfort

Yanni Karlaftis led West Lafayette with 19 points in a win at Frankfort Saturday.

For the second time this season, West Lafayette was dominant in a victory over Frankfort.

The Red Devils got 19 points and five rebounds from sophomore Yanni Karlaftis in a 62-34 victory over the Hot Dogs at Case Arena.

Harrison Truitt added 14 points and Rocco Muratori pulled down a game-high nine rebounds for West Side (9-6). 

Frankfort's struggles, meanwhile, continued.

Since winning the season opener over Clinton Prairie, the Hot Dogs have lost 15 straight. Trey Frazier led Frankfort with 13 points and five steals. 

Benton Central 69, Fountain Central 61

The Bison stopped a three-game losing streak thanks to a big night from Payton Hall.

Hall scored a game-high 30 points and Benton Central rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit with 46 points in the second half. 

Luke Lambeck added 17 points and Morgan Cooley scored 11 for BC (8-7). The Mustangs (10-8) were led by Nathanial Butt's 23 points. 

Rossville 88, Pioneer 57

The Hornets scored a season-high with four players reaching double figures en route to an eighth-straight win. 

Bryce Oliver led all scorers with 19 points for the Hornets (14-2), who shot 56.6 percent from the field and doubled up the Panthers 40-20 by halftime. 

Dawson Jacoby scored 18, while Damon Shaw contributed 15 and Chase Frey had 14 points. 

Covington 76, South Newton 28

The Trojans (13-3) used a 31-point second-quarter outburst to cruise to a fourth-straight win. 

Daniel Keller led all scorers with 22 points while Colton Brown added 13 and Caleb Ellmore contributed 10.

Rensselaer 49, Hebron 38

The Bombers got off to a slow start, but scored 32 of their 49 in the second half to recover.

Jackson Hughes provided a game-high 26 points, with Noah Donahue and Jarrett Nagel combining for 14.

Cloverdale 61, Delphi 49

The Oracles went scoreless in the third period, allowing Cloverdale to take a 44-35 lead into the fourth it wouldn't relinquish. 

The Clovers hit 15 of 16 free throws in the final quarter to seal the win and overcome a five-point halftime deficit. 

Washington Township 81, West Central 62

Despite getting 32 points from Janssen Flotow, the Trojans were done in by a plethora of Washington offensive threats. 

Wrestling

Behind three individual champions, Rensselaer was able to edge North Newton 164-160 to win the Twin Lakes Sectional. 

Eli Hickman at 132 pounds and Brayden Wright at 138 each won their 37th match of the season with victories in the championship and 182-pounder Caleb Wamsley gave the Bombers a third individual title. 

West Central's Colin Fritz stayed unbeaten, improving to 35-0 with a 152-pound title. His Trojan teammates Braden Nuest (120), Dalton Sizemore (170) and Braden Stevenss (195) also joined him atop the podium, giving third-place West Central the most individual champions. 

Frontier's Colin Reagan and Caleb White each remained with just one loss on the season with individual titles and fellow Falcon Jac Sproles also won a title. North White claimed three individual champions with Gavin Gross, Jak Lewis and Chantz Dillon.
