Staff reports

Lexi Thompson scored 15 points, including the clinching free throws with 1.5 seconds remaining, to lead Central Catholic past West Lafayette 53-48 in a consolation round game of the Franciscan Health Hoops Classic Thursday night at McCutcheon.

Caroline Lutz also was in double figures for the Knights with 12 points. Karsyn Cherry pulled down 12 rebounds and came close to a triple-double with eight points and seven steals.

West Lafayette will play in Saturday's seventh place game despite yet another outstanding performance by Alaina Omonode. Coming off a 40-point game against Lafayette Jeff, Omonode posted 23 points and 20 rebounds against CC.

Omonode will need 19 points and 10 rebounds against Twin Lakes to break the three-game Hoops Classic records.

Caroline Sautter had 12 points for the Red Devils, who took a five-point lead to the fourth quarter.

The Hot Dogs secured their first Hoops Classic victory since 2014 thanks to a major rebounding effort from post players Rylee Seibert and Kimberlee Kingma.

Kingma had a game-high 18 rebounds to go with eight points and Seibert added 12 boards to her 24 points as Frankfort outrebounded the Indians 51-24. Emily Michael added 23 points for Frankfort.

Maggie Gutwein's 26 points and late outside shooting nearly helped the Indians pull off a comeback victory.
