Petra Diamonds is reporting a significant find at its flagship South African mine.

The group recovered a 20.08-carat blue stone from its Cullinan Diamond Mine, located 40 km (25 mi) east of Pretoria. The finding is a gem quality Type IIb diamond.

“[This] recovery not only demonstrates the quality of Petra’s asset base, as the Cullinan diamond mine remains a significant source of rare blue diamonds, but confirms the prevalence of exceptional stones in the Cullinan orebody as well as the ability of the mine’s plant to recover the full spectrum of diamonds,” the company said in a statement.

Petra is set to report its Q3 production and sales results on Oct. 21.
