Lightning over Teton Valley

Lightning has been a consistent feature of afternoons in the Tetons, and climbers should get out of the mountains early in the day to avoid thunderstorms.

The snow is (almost) gone in Rendezvous Bowl, a sign Jackson Hole summer is in full swing.

But in Garnet Canyon and on the high alpine climbing routes, it’s still spring. Climbers looking to stand on Teton summits are likely to encounter snow, and those in charge of rescuing them want visitors to be prepared.
