On the morning of June 1, the Waukesha County Fair, Washington County Fair, Jefferson County Fair, and the Northern Wisconsin State Fair announced on Facebook that they are canceling their 2020 fairs over coronavirus concerns.

Waukesha County Fair

"This was quite honestly the hardest decision any of us have ever made based on our event alone," Waukesha County Fair's Facebook post said. "We have worked tirelessly to explore every option and different way possible to execute the Waukesha County Fair that people have come to love over the last 177 years.

"Our goal is to never diminish the Fair experience or compromise the health and safety of anyone. We know this is the right decision and have left no stone unturned."

The fair was scheduled for July 15-19.

The fair is looking into using its online platforms to showcase its exhibitors in the livestock and competitive exhibit areas, according to a news release. More details will be released in the coming weeks. Entry registration is open through June 15.

The 2021 fair is scheduled for July 21-25.

“This decision was extremely difficult, and the impact will weigh heavily on all of us,” said Kellie Boone, the fair's executive director, in a Facebook post. “We thank our community and fair family for their support and understanding as we move forward to when we can all come back together."

The fair was scheduled for July 21-26.

The fair is working on a way to still showcase exhibitors, and will be reaching out to them directly, according to the post.

The Fair Park Committee is considering putting on a celebration of the fair at the end of summer or early fall, the post said. Details will be released if that transpires.

Both LANCO and Brantley Gilbert, who were scheduled to perform at this year's fair, have agreed to move their shows to the 2021 fair.

LANCO will headline the Silver Lining Amphitheater on July 22 and Brantley Gilbert on July 24. Tickets already purchased will be honored for the 2021 dates. If someone who purchased tickets is unable to attend the new show dates, a refund can be requested. Details will be emailed to all current ticket holders.

The 2021 fair is scheduled for July 20-25.

Jefferson County Fair

Throughout the next month, the Jefferson County Fair is going to host a virtual fair on its website for junior, senior and open class exhibitors, according to a post on its Facebook page

The fair was scheduled for July 8-12.

Online entries can be submitted from June 1-30. Entries will be posted and judged virtually on the fair's social media pages and website.

"We look forward to brighter, better days ahead when we can gather again and continue to celebrate all that is exceptional about Jefferson County!" the post said.

Northern Wisconsin State Fair

The fair, held in Chippewa Falls, will host a virtual tribute on its website July 8-12, when the fair was supposed to be held, to spotlight those who make the event "a family affair," according to its Facebook post

"From exhibitors to sponsors, and everyone in between, our hope is to unite our community and spread some joy through the virtual fair," the post said.

This year's Main Stage entertainment is already "locked in" for next year's fair. Trace Adkins will perform July 7, Hairball on July 8, LANCO on July 9, and Grand Funk Railroad and Blue Öyster Cult on July 10.

Advance, Main Stage and general fair admission tickets will be good for 2021, the post said.

The 2021 Northern Wisconsin State Fair is scheduled for July 7-11.
