Neil Young playing intimate solo shows in Milwaukee and Madison in January

Neil Young is playing a handful of solo shows in intimate venues in January, and two out of five of them will be in Wisconsin. He'll be at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee Jan. 23, and the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison Jan. 24.

Neil Young is doing just five dates in January, solo performances at smaller venues than he typically plays.

And two of the shows are in Wisconsin.

The rock legend will kick off his brief run at the 2,500-capacity Riverside Theater Jan. 23. He’ll be at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison Jan. 24. (Three different Minneapolis theaters will host the remaining concerts.)

This will be Young’s first Milwaukee performance since headlining Summerfest’s 23,000-seat amphitheater on closing night in 2015 with Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real as his backing band.

The Wisconsin shows are not listed on the Riverside or Overture Center sites, but a Riverside spokeswoman confirmed the Milwaukee show.

Tickets are also available — and only available — for the shows through Neil Young’s website, neilyoungarchives.com. And they’re currently only available for fan club members who pay, or have paid, $19.99 for a full year subscription.

That will get you a code you can use to access tickets for purchase, which in Milwaukee, range from $95 to $195. Other fan club perks include exclusive access to concert audio and streaming access to his full catalog.

You don’t need a membership to purchase “gold circle” premium seats for the Milwaukee show, costing $350 to $395.
