In an already terrible year for domestic violence in Milwaukee, another victim has been added to the total.

A 26-year-old woman got into an argument with someone "she has an intimate relationship with" and was shot in the stomach about 7:24 p.m. Friday in the 8500 block of W. Appleton Ave., according to police.

The woman was transported to a hospital but died as a result of her injuries. The Milwaukee Police Department Homicide Division is now leading the investigation.

Police are searching for the suspect.

Domestic violence has become a major issue in 2020 as nearly half of the homicides this year have been related to domestic or family violence, according to local advocates.
