One person was killed and another injured after they were shot Tuesday evening on Milwaukee's north side, police and the medical examiner's office said.

Inspector Daniel Thompson of the Milwaukee Police said early Wednesday that the shootings appear to be the result of a robbery.

Police responded to the scene about 7:15 p.m. near North 40th Street and West Villard Avenue. They found a 30-year-old man who had been shot but who is expected to survive.

Meanwhile, a second shooting victim, a 37-year-old man, was dropped off at a hospital where he later died. Detectives believe he was also shot on North 40th Street.

"The investigation is ongoing and fluid and currently it is suspected the incident is robbery-related," Thompson said in a statement.

Police responded to two other shootings on Tuesday night.

At approximately 9 p.m., officers were called to the 3500 block of N. 62nd St. after a 23-year-old man was shot. He is expected to survive. The shooting likely stemmed from an ongoing dispute, Thompson said.

Around 10:15 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 3100 block of N. Palmer St. A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was shot while seated in his vehicle. He is expected to survive. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding that shooting.
