LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Representatives from more than 30 states gather in Arkansas for the first ever National Computer Science Summit.
Governor Asa Hutchinson and other state leaders met at the governor’s mansion today to share ideas on how to better prepare teachers and students in the field of computer science.
And even though Arkansas is leading the charge, the governor says more needs to be done especially when it comes to training programs for teachers.
“We’re not doing that adequately and that is the greatest need and that is exactly what will make the changes we’ve seen in computer science. Something that will last a generation and generation,” says Governor Asa Hutchinson.
Progress is being made both locally and nationally.
According to the governor, Arkansas used to have just twenty certified computer science teachers. We now have more than 300.
